After Shakira's concert in Medellín was confirmed to have been cancelled, videos and photographs began circulating on social media showing the damage to the stage at the Atanasio Girardot stadium, where the artist was scheduled to perform on February 24.
The event's logistics team officially announced the cancellation of the show last Friday, explaining that the stage's roof suffered structural failures during the set-up, which put the safety of the audience, the singer and her team at risk.
"During the assembly process of the show scheduled for February 24, the roof of the stage installed by the local production suffered damage that compromises the safety of all attendees," the company Páramo Presenta said in a statement.
Images circulating on social media show loose cables, an unstable roof and part of the grass raised, apparently due to the breaking of one of the support cables.

So far, the event organizers have not announced a new date for the performance in Medellin, although there are rumors that Shakira could perform two shows in the city as compensation for her fans.
